invites audiences into a new world that rejects technology as we know it. Instead a new kind of power is produced by the catalytic offloading of objects, movements, and words we need to shed. Spoken word poet U-Meleni Mhlaba-Adebo, dancer Emily Beattie, designer Rosa Weinberg, musician Akili Jamal Haynes aka CHIBUZO DUNUN, and a mysterious organism playfully guide audiences through a ritual. The performance is immersive and inherently interactive.&nbsp; Our intentions are to shift beyond our realities, empower a new source and encounter new objects, ways of moving, and ways of speaking. In The Shift Show, the powerful exchange between the performers and each audience member transforms the performance into a collective ritual of joy. Together we gather objects, speak in unison, and move. The work is immersive, interactive, and experimental in nature. Heavily based on speculative futures but reactive to current events, The Shift Show is meant to be personally cathartic and communally healing for all. Dance Like No One is Whale Watching invites you to a communal space for dreamers, dancers and orca whales. Dance Like No One is Whale Watching is an immersive experience and play space created to evoke the fantasy of life as an orca whale. The cosmically charged performance and encounter is wrapped in a billowy inflatable and illuminated with visuals from the open ocean. Antennae is an intimate process of physically sorting through noise to find a solid signal. We are exploring what it might look like to decipher noise through the body. The movement from Emily is captured with the Kinect camera and outputted to a visual programming environment for multimedia systems that Knoth has developed and customized. Through triggering sonic events and bending sound the space becomes an instrument that Emily can play. A confrontation of the self image surfaces and sinks in a compilation of interactive sound, recorded sound, and live sound. Imprints in form, movement, and sound guide the performer and viewer through Antennae. I was interested in how expectations of a female figure in society and expectations of a female figure in a traditional stage space compare. My hope was to give depth, traction, and life to the onstage behaviors that female identified characters through a series of processes with other artists. So far I have worked with 16 college-aged dancers, 3 highschool dancers, and 3 professional dancers near my age. Each a time I go back into the piece it offers each a different angle to approach this topic. I think I will keep going. Multiple large projections create an immersive environment exploring the resonance between our bodies and the bodies we watch on screen. Through interactive technology, visitors’ movements are linked with the movements of a dancer on film. An electroacoustic soundscape swells as visitors move with the film. Performed by you and me!
